RE: Doom and Gloom!

I would rather be remembered for acts of kindness than the size of my bank account.....I'd rather be remembered by not owing everybody when I met my demise........ he he :) Interesting comments... But to each his own. Good luck to you in whatever way you may choose to live out your life on this earth. My sincerest hope is that you will be remembered for more than a lack of debt.

RE: Airing down and the crazy greenies

Ahh yes, next time I will air down at home and drive to MOAB on 15 PSI. It shouldn't be a problem, its only a measley few hundred miles. I'm willing to sacrafice because I know the air in my tires is MUCH worse than my vehicle's emmisions. And we all know the 1968 VW buses with tye dyed curtains the tree huggers drive are such clean burners. I thought they all walked in sandles and only consumed Tofu and dead tree bark.

RE: Doom and Gloom!

Times have changed! During the depression, my wifes grandfather, who was wealthy for the times, held mortgages on several local farms, of course they all fell into arrears. He did not forclose or ask for payments for five years. Slowly, mostly because of WW11, the economy improved and the farmers could again make their payments. When he, the grandfather died in the early fifties, his funeral was the largest ever seen in those parts. I wonder how many investors would do that to-day? The grandfather was the type of person we all should strive to be like. Too many people put money and posessions ahead of compassion for their fellow man. I hope people read this and remember what it means to care about one's family, friends and neighbors. At the day of our funerals, we won't be taking one thing from this earth with us. It's what you leave behind that is important. I would rather be remembered for acts of kindness than the size of my bank account.

The key part of the title Environmentalist is "mental". These people need serious therapy.

RE: Destinations for Thanksgiving??

Johnson Valley or Cal City for us. We are waiting for our group to decide. I prefer Cal City during Thanksgiving because it is usually not as crowded.

RE: If bail out passes and works

The defaulting idiots that two years ago paid $500,000.00 for a two-bedroom, one bath, one car garage home in Los Angeles County, CA. that was built after WWII, deserve squat. Just my expert 'n humble opinion! :B Nor should they get squat. The homes should be foreclosed and the institutions that own the loans should follow the normal course of business through the foreclosure process. They new the loans were risky and should not have made or purchased the loans. The normal course of a free market is to allow the market to right size itself. Not to bail it out by printing a bunch money. The pain should be felt by the financial institutions and the home owners that paid too much. Seems the bail out plan punishes the home owners and bails out the institutions that gobbled up the risky loans and rewarded themselves with huge bonuses.

RE: If bail out passes and works

There is no need for a bail out. The markets and economy should right size itself. It's the natural cycle of a free market. Might be painful but that is how it should work. What good is it going to do to print a trillion dollars while all of the at risk properties still have to be foreclosured before the losses are truly quantifiable. The only result will be a very weak dollar.

RE: Packing Raptor 3612

I don't have any pictures but I fit a mini buggy (Two seater), two bikes and a quad (All in my sig). A couple of times I have taken a third smaller bike but that is just too tight.

RE: Funny (not) thing happened while we were at Pismo...

Nothing surpises me when it comes to toy haulers. I was at a local dealership a few weeks ago and I pulled out of the parking lot just ahead of an owner that just took delivery of his new 3-axel TH. I guess I wasn't driving fast enough for him so he proceded to lay on the horn as we entered the freeway. I wasn't towing and was going the posted 65mph (55 for towing). Well, along comes this guy passing me like I was standing still and "waving" at me as he goes by. I live in the high desert and the area is the gate-way to some OHV areas and quite a few THers use this freeway and I swear most of the ones I see are always speeding well over the speed limit. I guess that the toy hauler breed are mostly (not all) a different animal and not true RVers because their driving habits, attitude and social skills leave much to be desired and echo another kind of lifestyle all together. Dude, wrong forum for this post. You are going to be flamed big time by end of this day. I have seen some crazy a$$ haulers going over Cajon and I stay out of their way. All of the families I hang with are responsible adults but we know how to have fun. Ain't no quiet time at 10:00 PM when we camp!!!!!!!!

RE: Any African American Families camping/Rving in Georgia?

GA_RVing, Can't answer your question and won't try to. And this is not directed at your post in any way but to put to words the way I feel. Some are taking everything out of context and I don't want to be one of those. I believe that this color thing has been played for way too long by both sides, although some more than others and more one sided than it should be. I say if you were born in America or have became a citizen then you are an AMERICAN and the color of your skin should not make any difference and you should be treated the same as everyone else with no special treatment. Fair is fair! You are very right with your statement. Especially about the taking everything out of context. The only thing I was doing was trying to add to our circle of friends. Considering that 99% of the time we go camping my husband is the only African-American at the campground. I had no intentions of offending anyone, but it seems to me that lots of people have taken offense to my post and I appologize to the ones that feel offended. I want to thank all the ones that have posted links to point us in the right direction. No one should feel offended. You asked a simple question, if people can't give a simple answer they shouldn't waste your time. I live in a very diverse area and find absolutely nothing in your post offensive.

RE: Why are people against RVing?

Light up the flamethrowers! I am a fulltimer, and has been discussed here, my rv uses less total resources than a stick home. I often find the people that criticize the rv life the most have children-now there folks, are the people using up the earth's resources! They drive their "special" children to school so they don't have to ride the bus, they use petro based fertilizer on their lawns for their darlings to play on, and then those kids grow up and produce MORE children that consume....and with a Republican-like piety, pronounce my single with 2 cats in an rv lifestyle "wasteful"..... snicker...... So are you saying we shouldn't reproduce? I guess extinction would settle any argument over wasteful use of resourcesrgument :) That's really funny Rockchallenger, if you look at your signature and all the toys you have :B :B :B I don't think RVing/Camping is a waste of resources.... I do think movie stars, politicians and those who breathe rarified air, driving and idling their big autos, airplanes and monstrous houses are a drain on our resources. I rarely worry about those busy-bodies who question my lifestyle..... they are a mere speck of dust in the grand scheme of things. It was meant to be funny. Didn't mean to insult the poster but guess I may have. I'm with you. I don't think RVing is a waste of resources either. I can't stand those who think they are smarter than everyone else and feel the need to legislate other's life styles to follow their narrow minded views. My favorite was the idiotic idea from Sheryl Crow. One of her ideas was to allow people to only use one sheet of toilet paper per bathroom visit. Al gore makes a stupid movie and suddenly every entertainer with a fifth grade education is an expert on the environment and global warming. Worse yet, so many people, like those mentioned in the original post, blindly follow them like a lost tribe looking for a god.

I just waded thru a 22 page post on proper walmart camping ediquette, is it just me or is this just pure entertainment. Okay, I relent. Yes, WalMart camping etiquette is good entertainment. :B

RE: Non-commercial Class A

I hope the traffic court judges are reading this thread so they'll understand the issues and know how to rule when these tickets come to their courts. This is the first time I have ever heard of this. I will ask my friend in the CHP but in the past he has told me that commercial enforcement has stayed away from RVs. Commercial laws don't apply and manufacturer ratings are not legal ratings. I would think the only thing they may check is rear axle weight to determine if the tires are overloaded. Commercial enforcement has better things to do than weigh RVs. For everyone one RV on the road there are probably 100,000 commercial vehicles or more. That was just a wild guess of course.

RE: Just a note of thanks

I'd like to take a moment to post a note of thanks to the fine members here on this board. Many of us from the various bus forums enjoy coming over to this board to read the Walmart posts, the "is my rig overloaded" posts, the contractor generator posts etc. It provides a nice break for many of us. The entertainment value cannot be underestimated, while I realize that there are many on this forum that are actually real rvers, those are rarely heard from, the primary responses come from the not so silent majority that really don't have a clue and yet buy their S&S units sliding heavily into debt and still seem to not realize that an entire world exists that amazingly they cannot control even tho they try hard too lol. Again thanks for the entertainment. Did someone drop a silver spoon of Grey Poupon all over their $600.00 imported Italian loafers? Not only was your post most arrogant but downright unnecessary; however, when one of the un-real RVer's pass your out of commission "bus" on the side of the highway don't be surprised by the sight of quickly disappearing tail lights and no assistance. Happy Trails from the majority! :B Perfect response. I think they can close this thread now!!!

RE: Non-commercial Class A

jmtandem has it right. As far as weighing trailers I would bet you never see that in a hundred years unless it is gross and a clearly visible issue. I've heard of them weighing trailers after an accident if the suspect they are overweight or similar. Good luck scraping up the yard sale after a wreck and fitting it onto a scale. The wreck pics we've seen here look more like a plane wreck than a TC. No kidding. These trailers just come apart in an accident. My kids have asked me if they can ride in the hauler when we travel and I have always said no way!!! I scares me too much after seeing some of the pictures of accidents.

RE: Dealer going out of business. Do you pick up your trailer?

UPDATE - I just got off the phone with him. They left a deposit $1,000.00 but the check hasn't cleared the bank. The dealer was to install the brake controller, hitch receiver and anti-sway (its a small/light trailer). They did the usual signing of paperwork last week when they bought it but he doesn't even know what bank the loan is with yet. Thanks in advance for your comments. I told him the forum would be a good place start looking for ideas..... If they don't live up to their end of the contract (brake controller, hitch receiver, etc). He can probably get out of the contract but he may want to consult someone with knowledge of contract law. I would put a stop payment on the check if it was me until it is all sorted out.
